ELECTRICAL HAZARD RECOGNITION & ABATEMENT

According to NIOSH, work related electrocution take approximately 450 lives each year in the United States. Inadequate training has been recognized as a root cause to the majority of these fatalities.

This course is designed to teach employees how to recognize electrical hazards, understand the critical nature of electrical shocks and prevent electrical accidents.

Specific topics covered:

How electricity works

How shocks occur

Effects on the body

Achieving electrical safety

Hazards of overhead and under ground power lines

 

At the end of this class, you will;

Become familiar with OSHA Electrical Safety Regulations

Become familiar with NFPA 70, "Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces"

Be able to identify, eliminate and control electrical hazards

Understand safe power line working clearances

Understand the proper response to a power line contact

Individuals who dig and/or use equipment that reaches could contact an overhead power line
