Instrumentation and Monitoring This course involves 12 hours of intensive training over two full days. First, the instructor will explain instruments from top to bottom. This foundation will allow the student to fully understand monitors and how they work. The second part covers the "art" of monitoring techniques and strategies. Practical exercises using controlled samples in the classroom to teach students how to determine what the product actually is and calculate the level of concern. The "safe, unsafe and dangerous" concept is utilized when operating in a hazardous environment. Students learn when and where to monitor, when it is not safe to monitor, how to establish zoning and how to determine if decontamination is functioning properly. Engineering controls are covered to assist with the monitoring problem. Personnel safety is carefully explained in great detail.
